Accessibility Statement

MyRelay is built for people with disabilities. Accessibility isn't an afterthought — it's the reason we exist.

Our commitment

MyRelay was founded by a Deaf business owner to solve a problem that accessibility regulations alone haven't fixed: making phone calls independently, privately, and without stigma.

We are committed to ensuring that our website and application are accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We continuously work to improve the accessibility of our products and welcome feedback from our users.

What we do

Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Tab, Enter, Escape, and arrow keys work throughout the app.

Screen reader support. Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and proper heading hierarchy. Tested with VoiceOver and NVDA.

Color contrast. All text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios. UI elements are distinguishable without relying on color alone.

Text alternatives. Images include alt text. Icons have labels. Non-text content is described for assistive technology.

Resizable text. Content reflows properly at up to 200% zoom. No horizontal scrolling required at standard breakpoints.

No seizure triggers. No flashing content, no auto-playing animations that can't be paused. Reduced motion is respected.

Focus indicators. Visible focus rings on all interactive elements. Custom focus styles that are clear and consistent.

Plain language. Content is written clearly and concisely. We avoid jargon and explain technical terms when used.

Standards we follow

We aim to conform to the following accessibility standards:

WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

Section 508

US Federal Accessibility

ADA Title III

Americans with Disabilities Act

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly audit our products and address issues as they're identified. We may not be perfect — but we're committed to getting better.

The app itself

MyRelay's core purpose is accessibility — enabling people with hearing and speech disabilities to make phone calls. The app is designed to be simple, text-first, and usable with assistive technology.

The chat-based interface works naturally with screen readers. Mood indicators use both color and text labels. Sound detection alerts are described textually. All interactive elements are keyboard-accessible and properly labeled.

Feedback & issues

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website or in the app, we want to know. Your feedback helps us improve.
